September relates to the 9th body, the Subtle body. “The Subtle body gives the opportunity to understand and master the subtlety of life. It can help you to understand what is going on around you” – YB, and within you. It refines our perception and impacts the depth and qualities of our thoughts, words, and actions.

Our Subtle body is a connection to Chitta, the Universal Mind, the pool of all possibilities and potentialities of the past, present, and future. Connected to the totality, we become more aware of our personal reactions, filters, patterns, and impacts.

September is the transition from summer to autumn. Summer, ruled by the sun and the fire element, is a time to deploy our energy outward. In autumn, the movement of Vayu changes and it is a time to re-integrate the fire inwards, like the sap of trees that goes to the roots after having fed the leaves, flowers, and fruits. It is a period for elimination of what has not been used or of the accumulated waste, and for cleansing our bodies and minds.

Applied to our communication, the subtle body gives us a deeper understanding of the origin, meaning, and impact of our words.

Words are seeds. They are like containers for a potential prana to unfold. Through our words, we constantly actualize the cosmic field that we call GOD. Each word, conscious or not, is a prayer sent to the Universal Mind that will come back to us. The universe reflects the image we give so we can be aware of who we really are, behind the filters we unconsciously apply.

Many things can be said about the Naad, the combination and permutation of sounds that produces the words, which, in most modern languages, is independent of the meaning. This will have an impact on the quality of prana that is transmitted but we will not develop that here. We will focus on the meaning of the words, as a result of the accumulation of many memories:

  • First, there is the memory of the original meaning, connected to the language from which the sound itself was formed. This meaning can partly be found in the dictionary when you look for the origin and birth of a word. It gives the word a kind of basic energy. This is the “Brahma” energy/aspect of the word.
  • Then, this word contained the memory of all the times it has been used from its birth until now: contexts, associations, interpretations, personal and collective memories which have accumulated in it. Those memories are the prana that sustained the word and its maintenance through time. We are deeply affected by them each time we pronounce it. The word “GOD” for example is necessarily connected to religions, including the impact of the religious wars. This is the “Vishnu” aspect of the word.
  • The last stage is how your personal story filters and reacts to the piled-up memories of this word. Therefore, you decide if you want to use it or not to express who you are in the present moment. This is “Shiva”, the delivering or destroying phase/aspect.

Through this reflection, we realize that when we use words, we only communicate through the filters of the past. So how can communication be liberating?

Each word we speak unconsciously is a validation and multiplication of the patterns and memories associated to it through time. We only choose the words we like and constantly polarize ourselves by doing that. It is a continuous way of crystallizing past karma.

But at the same time, how can I use words that I don’t like since they don’t reflect who I am right now? This would sound fake.

We need to first digest our personal reactions to the memories of the words, so we can make room to seed the word with an actualized meaning that resonates with our sensitivity in the moment.

This is called healing the “words”. By doing that, we clear the word and open the field of thoughts that the Universal Mind can associate and send us when we produce that word. Each person using this word will have a possibility to experience a different kind of prana. A word is a container of thought forms and the kind and quality of thoughts associated with each word are the responsibility of each one of us.
