Self-restraint …

Slowly getting out of the winter and with more light, we can see that our ideas start blossoming like the green buds on tree branches that we now see around us. Still small, still fearful of winter and frost, yet coming out.

This is the time when self-restraint should be applied.  How many projects do I want to maintain? How many ideas can really find their way and grow? Do these ideas support and help each other in their growth, or are they robbing time and energy from one another? Are they in tune with my original plans and goals, or am I following perishable distractions that happen to be on my path?

Self-restraint is not equal to renunciation. It means giving meaning to our lives and not to let everything and all happenings distract us from the direction of our spirit. It means to be faithful to your original goals and do not let life shake you right and left randomly as it comes.

It means to remember why we are here and what is the call of our hearts.

If we want to achieve one thing, we must let go of thousand others. If not, we remain victims of our own desires. How do you feel when you try to do a thousand things at the same time? How does it feel to be unable to decide because we do not want to lose opportunities? If we want it all, we end up with nothing.

Eating while thinking of business; being at work and thinking of our children; driving, eating, sleeping… and always think of something else that is not HERE right now. It is a habit!

The big duality we face is that one part of us wants to earn money while the other wants to be spiritual and they keep on clashing, bringing confusion to our goals. It is time to recognize that spirituality is at the source of everything and that we just need to give meaning to what we materialize.

The mind always looks for pleasure and opportunities. It will tell us to go on with every distraction because who knows if this opportunity will come again! Or it will see opportunities as a danger and stop us from taking them, thus creating frustration and a sense of low esteem what seems a lack of courage.

The mind perceives self-restraint as suffering and non-restraint as freedom. It is quite the opposite! When we reach the neutral mind (4), we become aware of this reality.

April (4) encourages us to choose and frame our choices while giving them meaning. It is time to roll up our sleeves and support the “Ek Ong Kar” of the first 3 months. If we fail to contain ourselves, we might be scattered around and blame the circumstances and others for not supporting us.

More than ever, after more than 2 years of restrictions due to the Covid pandemic and the crisis of the war changing our lives in unknown ways, we might not know where to put our attention, or, if we do, we are still fearful to invest ourselves 100% as we doubt that our plans will go through.

April 2022 = 4+2+2+2= 10.

Not only the sum is 10 but also 4 is a shortcut to 10, meaning that the 10 is hidden in the 4: 1+2+3+4= 10.

This double 10 is an urge to start now and to go all the way. All or nothing. The next step should happen now and at the same time it can only come from the silence of our inner space.
