“Sadhana is nothing but where a disciplined one, with love, talks to one’s own soul. Is nothing but where one cleans his own mind. Sadhana is nothing but where one prepares for the day to become kind and compassionate for everyone, including the enemies.” – Yogi Bhajan 7/26/1990
Out of the trance, awakening
Stepping into the unknown
Rediscovering innocence, my heart opens – a new freedom
My practice: a seva
This month, the number 4 resonates deeply with the year number 4 (2+0+2+0) increasing the intensity of its impact on us. From 3 to 4, it is a significant jump. We move from the analytical and rational thinking (3) based on our past experiences and accumulated knowledge to the intuitive realm where we accept that we don’t know, we have no filter, we are open to a new field of possibilities. 3 can be a trance, caught into our beliefs, habits, and certainties, we live an automatic life where choices are reduced and where we are distracted from ourselves by our own busyness.
We nourish a fire which is outside us (our distractions) and this fire hypnotizes us. When we run on automatic, disconnected from our own natural rhythm, we need a shock to get out of that state! We need a shock to go back home and nourish our inner fire.
Out of the trance, we are awaken!
The world crisis we are experiencing with the Corona Virus is a shock! We created a society and an economy disconnected from any natural rhythms and limits, where movements of people and goods are extreme, and where everything has to go at fastest. Due to the virus, borders closed, trains and planes are reduced to the minimum, and we are asked to stay home as much as possible. Our economy, based on a constant flow of exchange, is suddenly on stand-by. Back to our home, with time, we realize how fragile and vulnerable we are.
We realize how much we depend on nature and others! We rediscover a codependency, opportunity to open ourselves to others, their realities, their struggles, … and to realize our personal responsibilities in the world we created. This is the awakening, moving from being self-centered (ME) and numb, to a more horizontal field where others are included (WE) and where I feel.
The condition to maintain our “modern” societies and ignore their terrible impacts on all living beings on the planet is for us to be numb. If we open ourselves to our sensitivity and feelings, perceiving through our physical body the impact of our collective actions, it becomes so unbearable that we need to act for a change and for rediscovering our humanity. The part of the mind that allows this process is the neutral mind.
“Times of disaster make you aware of the reality as it is. It is always fragile; everybody is always in danger. Just, in ordinary times you are fast asleep, so you don’t see it: you go on dreaming, imagining beautiful things for the coming days, for the future. But in moments when danger is imminent, then suddenly you become aware that there may be no future, no tomorrow, that this is the only moment you have got. So times of disaster are very revealing. They don’t bring anything new into the world; they simply make you aware of the world as it is – they wake you up. If you don’t understand this, you can go mad. If you understand this, you can become awakened.”
(Osho, The Path of the Mystic)
The Three Minds
The neutral mind has the capacity to think and evaluate the thought at the same time. It constantly keeps the connection to our centre and deeper self. When we do not use it, we are prey of the spiraling out of the two others, negative and positive, and we fight for power, protection, blame, and justifications, constantly reacting to what is outside.
Today we can see all this at play: The escalation of the crisis and the escalation of the fears, the doubts, and the blame. We see how much influence the social media have on us and how our thoughts build up on what we hear. We also see the efforts of many to keep out of this mental game and come back to themselves. We see the humor brought by the positive mind as a way to find a short-term solution that gives again lightness. And we also see this tremendous human capacity to find the good in the bad, this law of nature that when something is destroyed, something must be born.
Only the neutral mind can keep observing and experiencing the creation without identifying to, and be carried away by the events.
Stepping into the unknown
After a shock, we might feel lost. All our references are questioned, leaving us without a floor under our feet. Most of time, we react and quickly grab our old habits and old ways in order to survive and go through the crisis! Awakening is challenging, but it is the condition to move from a survival mode to a fulfilling life!
Today, we have a chance individually and collectively to explore new models in which we are co-creators of our own lives. We need to give ourselves permission to explore beyond the known, to go beyond this self-created box. The known brought us to a dead-end. In the scriptures, it is written that the known represents 10% and the unknown 90%. What are we waiting to step into the unknown, facing our fears to let go the control. We need to surrender, and rediscover the strength of our vulnerability. I drop the illusion of choice and follow my inner guidance without doubt.
Rediscovering our innocence, my heart opens – a new freedom
4 (April) + 4 (year) = 8 (Pranic body).
It is scary to step out from our comfort zone (what we know) even if we are not completely happy there. It questions our sense of identity, who I believe I am! The children, still not yet slaves of their conditioning, shows us flexibility and capacity to enjoy the present moment beyond the circumstances. They do not hold easily on what happened in the past. They are a real inspiration for us to step into a new freedom. A freedom that has been expressed and chanted by the sufis, by the Sikh gurus, the freedom to be 100% true to myself (Sat Nam). It is not about imposing our truth, but enjoying it even if the circumstances are not comfortable. Enjoying the truth of my infinity, this is my identity, my name! My heart opens!
“This is the way of the faqirs, a way to the Age of Aquarius, where old structures, old forms, are not relevant anymore. Only the essence remains : we are all One. Singing together, dancing together, praying together, just breathing together : just ways to celebrate what we all feel deep within. Everything is connected, there is no separation anymore. All duality came from the boxes I tended to put myself into in order to feel safe, accepted, and taken care of.
Now is the time to accept that we are all alone, that we have to be ready, every morning, with every breath, to lose everything we have and know, to empty ourselves, to be ready to receive everything that is there to receive, the countless gifts that rain down on us at every instant. Only if we pay attention and only if we come totally empty-handed can we see and receive those gifts. There is so much relaxation and gratitude in accepting this simple state of being. No hopes anymore. No expectations.
All those times when we have said «no» to life, resisted what was there, based on what we knew from before and what we expected from the projection of our minds…There is nothing to «keep up» anymore : victory comes to the one who has nothing to lose, and even no reasons to win. But if I have nothing to fight for, if I even doubt what I see, what my eyes show me, then what reference do I have left ?
My heart brought me here, so I am burning, without even the illusion of choice anymore. Just the feeling of being at the right time, at the right place, and completely surrendering to what the moment has to offer. The prayer that comes with this attitude is this simple stance : «I am all yours, my Lord».
Now is the time to meet. Now is the time to gather and share this precious vibe.
Now is the time to bathe together in this very simple bliss of being. Now is the time to burn down all attachments to what was, burn from this deep longing we have in common, this deep thirst, this essential will to completely merge.” – Aquarian Faqirs
My practice, a seva!
The pressure of the virus “crisis” is high, and generates lot of fears and anxiety. Uncertainty can be very shaky. Without a personal practice, we are vey easily influenced by the collective mind which goes for unconscious reaction based on survival instincts. We absolutely need to practice regularly, not to reach anywhere, but to stay available to the subtle messages of the unknown, to stay connected to our heart and be there for others, to stay vulnerable and sensitive and surf with the changes.
