Why do we want to offer a new training format rather than the KRI-certified Level 1 and Level 2?

For more than 15 years, we have been offering KRI Level 1 teacher training courses and training trainers. We were inspired and driven by Yogi Bhajan’s vision of creating teachers. We also wanted to be part of this international collective dynamic of providing access to these teachings.
This year has clarified where we want to invest our prana and confirmed the new directions we want to take within the Ajai Alai Awakening school.
In 2025, we will leave the KRI framework to offer our own training courses. This change will take place gradually, and we will honor our commitments for the current KRI pieces of training or those scheduled for 2025.
We will continue to teach Kundalini Yoga. Our connection to this “lineage” has not changed.
Still, we wish to propose a different pedagogical angle inspired and nourished by our journey within the institution and the framework proposed by Yogi Bhajan. We have decided to structure our teaching differently to optimize the content and students’ experience and integration.
BACK TO THE BASICS
KRI training has hardly changed in 30 years.
Over the last few years, we’ve realized that Level 1’s content is far too broad and cannot deeply address the fundamentals necessary for a healthy and constructive practice.
Some Level 2 participants have skimmed over the essentials during their Level 1 experience. They are adding knowledge and experience on shaky foundations, limiting the integration of these precious teachings into their daily lives.
Level 1 students are often certified to teach even though their practice (and their nervous system) is often fragile.
THE CONTEXT
For over ten years, we have been developing our training courses within the KRI framework year after year to adapt to the times and the needs of people’s nervous systems, particularly since the traumatic period of COVID-19.
The recent political conflicts within the Kundalini Yoga institutions have contributed to our decision to establish our programs within a new framework. Indeed, we could not find our place of belonging in this polarization.
The sometimes very conservative or radical approach, the complexity of inclusion and consultation due to the international and globalized context, and the American hegemony over these institutions are all signs that confirmed to us that it is almost impossible for the KRI- Academy to bring practical and relevant changes from within (down top) of the content and pedagogy of its courses.
The new framework is the AAA school.
CONNECTION WITH NATURE
Yoga comes from the Himalayan mountains. Its source of wisdom is the connection to nature and the resonance of the five elements in each of us. Nature is a primordial and inescapable teacher, especially in today’s “disconnected” lifestyles. Kundalini Yoga has become essentially “above ground.” This context limits its effectiveness and the integration of its teachings in all aspects of our lives and all types of life.
Our new training course and its modules keep the seasons in mind.
A NEW STANDARD: QUALITY vs QUANTITY
Through our personal experience and research, we want to offer training adapted to today’s needs. We all have access to information, even too much information. The problem is to give this information a concrete and unambiguous meaning, to make it tangible and practical. We do that in our courses by connecting Kundalini Yoga to the science of life (ayurveda) and to nature.
This new framework considers:
• The specific characteristics of our time and our society,
• Technically and theoretically precise content based on the seasons and the laws of nature,
• Ayurveda and knowledge of the human body and its delicate balance,
• Recent research in neuroscience and trauma healing,
• The combined experience of the school’s three trainers, who have used this technology for over 20 years.
SELF-INITIATION
Initiation is crucial to awakening our consciousness. It is like activating the keys to open the doors of our consciousness and access an unknown land. Our training integrates that fundamental element by diving in depth into the blueprint of the teachings and connecting precisely to these energetic pathways.
Based on our experience, we are convinced that the teacher-student relationship is essential in the spiritual journey. However, we also believe no authority outside yourself can validate you as a teacher.
By taking responsibility, we can be impacted by our actions and have a chance to discover ourselves through that impact. Depending on an institution’s shakti (energy) and responsibility, we create a gap between our creative impulse and the reality we manifest, which others (students) often must cover for us.
Teaching is a call from the heart, a deep desire to share, and a personal responsibility. Our training course gives you the essential foundations and tools for teaching if you wish to do so and are willing to take responsibility for it. We want to support people to integrate the teachings in their daily life. In this way your transformation can infuse naturally your surroundings and impact others organically.
